Michael R. Kosco, 71, of Wyoming, died April 18, 2010, at Manor Care Health and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston, where he had been a guest for the past few days. His wife is the former Arlene (Cookie) Plevel. They would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on June 12, 2010. Born on April 3, 1939, in Swoyersville,
He was a son of the late Michael and Mary Bednar Kosco. Raised in Swoyersville, he attended the former Holy Trinity Grade School, Swoyersville. He was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, class of 1956. Prior to his retirement in 1992, Michael was employed for 22 years as a lineman for the former Bell Atlantic Telephone Co., currently known as Verizon. A U.S. Army veteran, Michael honorably served his country during the Vietnam War with the 518th Signal Company. Upon his honorable discharge on January 8, 1965, Michael had attained the rank of Sergeant. Michael was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville. A proud veteran, Michael was a member of the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville, and the Catholic War Veterans, Post 1601, Swoyersville. Michael also held membership with the Paradise Social Club, Swoyersville, and the Wilkes-Barre Telephone Pioneers.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Kosco, and his sister, Elizabeth Brand.
He is also survived by his sister, Martha Ramutkoski, Glendora, CA; four nephews and one niece; and many close friends.
Funeral services were April 23 from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville.
