Winterized tents, tarps and blankets; mobile medical clinics; newborn kits of diapers, lotion and warm baby clothes — these are just a few of the emergency measures Benco Dental supports with its recent $10,000 donation to victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The family-owned dental supply company, headquartered in Greater Pittston, donated more than $10,000 to help assist victims of Typhoon Haiyan, said Benco Dental Culture & People Talent Specialist Julia Amendola. Benco asked its employees to donate funds, too.

Super Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippines Nov. 8, affecting at least 13 million people. In an area more than 300 miles wide — about the distance from Boston to Philadelphia — the typhoon claimed 4,200 lives, injured another 12,500 and left a reported 4 million displaced.
