The Seton Catholic High School Class of 1984 will hold its 30th anniversary reunion on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Arturo’s, 140 Main St., Dupont.

fundraiser slated

The annual ALS fundraiser in memory of Jimmy Duffy will take place at 1 p.m. today, Aug. 31 at the Alan Hanczyc residence, 219 Rock St., Hughestown. Duffy was diagnosed with ALS in 2007 and passed away in 2009.

Food will be provovided by MD Pit of Exeter and will include barbeque chicken, cole slaw, corn, beans, drinks and dessert. An entrance fee will include food and a donation to the ALS Chapter in Philadelphia.

Kiwanis Club to meet

The Pittston Kiwanis Club will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at Fox Hill Country Club with president Don Shearer presiding.

Taste of Greater Pittston

to be held at library

A Taste of Greater Pittston will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21 on the Pittston Memorial Library grounds.

Come taste samplings from various restaurants, bakeries, delis, craft brewers and homemade wines. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the library or by contacting Lisa Joyce at 570-237-1925 or email Joycelisa918@gmail.com.

Paint Pittston Pink

The first “Paint Pittston Pink” weekend will be held during the first week of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

A Facebook page was recently created by Barb Sciandra, a 36-year-old who was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer.

Sciandra got the idea to start “Paint Pittston Pink” because of her recen diagnosis. Plans are still being finalized for the weekend. But so far, Sciandra has the following events planned:

Friday, Oct. 3: Celebrity Bartending night at the Red Mill, South Main Street, Pittston.

Saturday, Oct. 4: “Color Me Pink” 5k and The Caped CURE-Sader Family Fun Walk.

Sunday, Oct. 5: Silent Auction and Beer and Wine Tasting event

The fundraising goal, to donate to the Pennies in Action Fund at the University of Pennsylvania to aid in the research efforts of Dr. Brian Czerniecki and his team, is $50,000.

Pilgrimage

A pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Mass. will be held to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Faustina on Saturday, Oct. 4. Cost is $60 per person. For more information and reservations, call Cathy Mack at 570-654-6063.
