Alphy D. Martin, 87, of Wyoming, died January 5, 2010, at the VA Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Baker Lake, Canada, he was a son of the late Desire and Delina Martin. He was formerly self-employed as a carpenter and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 7th Air Corps Division in China, Burma and India. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, Carverton.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, the former Jennie Hilstolsky; brothers Prime, Yvonne, Jerry and Roger; sisters Rose, Jeanette, Loretta and Yvette. Surviving are sons John, of Carverton; Richard, of Philipsburg; Robert, of Dallas; David, of Falls; and Kenneth, of Falls; daughters Dorothy Irace of Wyoming, Diane Castellino of Harding, and Deborah Musto of Lehman; brother Leonce Martin of Vermont; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren.
Funeral was Jan. 8 from the Recupero Funeral Home, West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Frances Cabrini Church. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
