Pittston Area’s Mia Nardone has become accustomed to breaking records. A few times this year, it’s been her own records.
Things weren’t any different on Friday at the PIAA District 2 Class AA Swimming championships held at the Wilkes-Barre CYC.
Nardone, a junior, posted a 59.67 in the 100 fly to capture her first career district gold. In last year’s district championships, Nardone locked up a silver with a time of 1:01.26.
On the boys side, Pittston Area’s Brandon Winters took home a silver in the 50 freestyle event.
Diving Championships
Pittston Area’s Sierra Williams was feeling bronze during last week’s 2A Diving Championships at the Wilkes-Barre CYC.
The Patriot diver totaled a score of 331.15 for 12.0 points in 1-meter diving. Abington Height’s Annie Gromelski took home the gold with a score of 16 points.
Wyoming Area’s Keirstin Lasher earned fourth place.
Michael Barney finished with a sixth-place nod for Pittston Area. He accumulated a score of 291 for nine points.
Lake-Lehman’s Matthew Edkins broke a district record with a score of 483.55 and 16 points for gold.
The PIAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be Wednesday, March 12, at Kinney Natatorium on the campus of Bucknell University in Lewisburg.
