Each week, the Sunday Dispatch will feature senior students from Pittston Area. Each student will have their chance to tell the Greater Pittston area a little about themselves.
Liz Scialpi
Liz Scialpi, a resident of Hughestown and daughter of Tracey and Kenny Scialpi, was born on Sept. 6, 1996. She is involved in Pittston Area’s cheerleading and track teams and enjoys taking singing lessons.
Liz describes her high school experience with one word: amazing. She enjoyed becoming friends with amazing people and being involved in pep rallies. However, one thing she did not enjoy was waking up early every day.
She likes to spend her free time listening to music by her favorite artist, Iggy Azalea, and being with the person she looks up to the most, her mom.
High school was full of memories and great times for Liz, but she has big plans for herself. She intends to go to college at the Pennsylvania State University and become a pediatrician. She looks forward to accomplishing her goals, starting life on her own and later with a family.
Eric Sklanka
Eric Sklanka, son of Don and Grace Sklanka, was born on March 6, 1997. He is a current resident of Pittston Township.
He spends his time involved in many school and extracurricular activities such as the cross country team, indoor and outdoor track teams, National Honor Society, Key Club, Student Council, Science Olympiad, FBLA, Math Club, Stand Tall, Zero Conflict, Wilkes-Barre Junior Leadership, talent show, ICE Club, peer tutoring, Relay for Life, youth group, alter serving, Hational Honor Society of High School Scholars, yearbook and Telecommunications Club.
Eric’s high school experience was enjoyable and full of great memories. What he found difficult about it was balancing all of his AP classes, extracurricular activities, sports and work successfully and at the highest level.
His future plans , include receiving a Bachelor’s degree in either biology or chemical engineering and to later attend medical school. Eric looks forward to being able to apply what he has learned in the classroom for worldly situations and to have a family.
Kade Hapeman
Kade Hapeman, a resident of Jenkins Township, was born on April 5, 1997. He is the son of Kim and Kevin Hapeman. He has many favorites, including eating Philly cheesesteaks while watching “Scary Movie 2.”
Kade also enjoys listening to “1 threw 8” by rapper Mac Miller. Another thing you may not know about Kade is that he loves to rap and looks up to rapper Wiz Khalifa the most.
If he could start high school all over again, one of the things he would do differently is get better grades. The most challenging part of high school for Kade was finding himself.
