Prociak crowned

JENKINS TWP. — Rebecca Prociak, Jenkins Township, was crowned Miss Polish Women’s Alliance of America at the May Festival which was recently held in the King’s College Chapel in Wilkes-Barre.

She was crowned by her grandmother, Florence Prociak, who is a lifelong member of the Polish Women’s Alliance.

Rebecca is the daughter of Michael and Patricia Prociak and has three brothers, Michael Jr., Nicholas, and Matthew.

She graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in June and will attend King’s College in the fall, where she will major in accounting and play basketball.

Locals among Scranton’s best

SCRANTON — Several Greater Pittston residents were among the members of The University of Scranton’s undergraduate class of 2016 honored for academic excellence, service or both at commencement.

Angela Rose Agostini, Laflin; Jennifer Lynn Hadley, Pittston; Sarah Elizabeth Kosik, Pittston; Amy R. Mozeleski, Avoca; and James W. Pennington, West Wyoming, were all honored.

Agostini was recipient of the Excellence in Nursing RN to BSN Award. She graduated cum laude with a major in nursing. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau honor society. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in nursing.

Hadley was recipient of the Prof. Frank C. Brown Award for Excellence in History. She graduated summa cum laude with a double major in political science and history and a minor in philosophy.

Kosik was the recipient of the Frank J. O’Hara Awards for the Panuska College of Professional Studies.

Mozeleski was recipient of the Excellence in Business Administration Award. She graduated cum laude with a double major in business administration and entrepreneurship.

Pennington was recipient of the Excellence in Theatre Award. He graduated with a major in theatre. He was a member of The University of Scranton Players.

Laflin resident awarded

DALLAS TWP. — Misericordia University recently presented the Instress Award for Service and Creative Distinction to Leah Santucci, Laflin, at the annual Honors and Awards Ceremony in Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall.

Frederick graduates

SCRANTON — Norman Frederick, Pittston, graduated summa cum laude from The University of Scranton’s Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Honors Program and the honors program.

Frederick was a biochemistry, cell and molecular biology; biomathematics, and philosophy triple major.

TROY, N.Y. — Eric Werbin, West Pittston, has been named to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester.

Werbin studies cognitive science.
