PITTSTON — The Caprari family celebrated 60 years in business with an event at the family store, Duchess Outlet, 75 William St., on Friday, Nov. 11
Approximately 175 members of the community were in attendance, including local, state and federal officials.
Pittston City Mayor Jason Klush and State Representative Michael Carroll addressed the attendees and the Caprari family received citations and well-wishes from Governor Tom Wolf, Senator John Blake, Senator John Yudichak, Congressman Matt Cartwright and the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce.
Duchess Outlet was started by Samuel and Theresa Caprari in 1956. In the 1980s, Sam and Theresa’s son, Paul, and his wife, Paula, took over the business.
Paul and Paula’s children expanded the business and launched duchessoutlet.com in 2011, becoming the third generation to opeerate the business.
Duchess offers outerwear by designers such as London Fog, BCBG, Michael Kors, Ann Klein, Jones NY and more. The men’s department features suits and sports jackets and specializes in American-made H. Freeman suits and others.
The Toy Division includes Madame Alexander dolls, doll furniture, clothing and accessories, Hansa stuffed animals, Folkmanis puppets, Kidwise, and Backyard Discovery, the largest residential swing-set manufacturer in the United States.
Duchess is located in the historic Pittston Stove building. The lower level includes artifacts from the stove company and a doll museum containing more than 1,000 Madame Alexander dolls.
In February, the Caprari family will attend Toy Fair in New York City as honored guests.
