HUGHESTOWN — Mr. Kevin Booth, superintendent of the Pittston Area School District, has announced registration of students who plan to attend kindergarten in the district for the 2017-18 school year will be held from Monday, Feb. 13 to Wednesday, March 22.

All students must be 5 years old by Aug. 31 and parents may register in one of the following ways:

• Access the online registration at www.pittstonarea.com and complete all required information by March 22 (preferred method).

• Return a completed registration packet and copies of required documentation to the Administrative Office, 5 Stout St., Yatesville, by March 22. Registration packets may also be picked up at the administrative office, if necessary.

The kindergarten screening process will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, March 27 to Thursday, March 30 at the Primary Center, 120 Rock St.. A parent or guardian must accompany the student to the screening dates.

Each child will receive hearing and vision screening and will also receive a Reading Readiness Assessment, which is an assessment of pre-reading skills, consisting of two parts: identifying letters of the alphabet and phonemic awareness assessment. Lastly, immunization history will be reviewed and the following immunizations are required: four doses of diphtheria and tetanus vaccine (one dose administered on or after the fourth birthday); three doses of polio vaccine; three doses of hepatitis B vaccine; two doses of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); two doses varicella vaccine (chicken pox) or proof of disease.

Students will be screened alphabetically according to their last name.

• A-F — March 27

• G-L — March 28

• M-R — March 29

• S-Z — March 30
