WEST PITTSTON — Former Exeter Hose Co. treasurer Stephanie McNeil is facing more retail theft charges.
McNeil, 34, allegedly stole merchandise from Gerrity’s on Feb. 3. More charges from an unrelated incident were filed Tuesday.
As a result of those charges, prosecutors have filed a motion to revoke her bail stemming from felony charges from alleged thefts from the Exeter Hose Company.
According to the petition filed Monday, prosecutors allege McNeil violated her bail initially set by District Judge Joseph Carmody when she was arraigned on charges stemming from the fire company thefts. She is accused of stealing $67,315 from the fire company between 2008 and 2014.
In November 2014, she was voted out of office from the fire company.
A bail revocation hearing has been scheduled for Thursday.
After a preliminary hearing on Jan. 18, the charges of felony theft and related charges were waived to higher court.
According to the criminal complaint for the alleged Feb. 3 theft:
Loss prevention from the store on Wyoming Avenue contacted police regarding a retail theft. Officers spoke with a loss prevention officer, who said McNeil and three children were in the store.
The staff accused McNeil taking one package of Osteo Bi-Flex, two packages of Unisom, and three packages of Mucinex Extra Strength to customer service in an attempt for a refund. McNeil allegedly told the cashier she was pregnant and unable to take the medication.
McNeil was unable to provide a receipt when asked by the cashier, and she then allegedly left the store with the items.
Police were then provided video surveillance of the incident, where McNeil was positively identified and the incident confirmed.
The criminal complaint filed Tuesday adds a charge of theft by deception against McNeil.
Police were once again contacted by staff members of Gerrity’s at approximately 1 p.m. Friday. A loss prevention officer told police McNeil entered the store Feb. 8 and returned one box of Mucinex Extra Strength and got $14.29 in credit from the store.
A cashier later told police McNeil could not provide a receipt when prompted, and she used the store credit on the same day it was issued to her.
A loss prevention officer claimed the box of Municex McNeil returned was the same box she allegedly stole on Feb. 3.
After a preliminary hearing on Jan. 18, the charges of felony theft and related charges were waived to higher court.
