PITTSTON — The Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick presented a $5,000 check to the John F. Kennedy Statue Committee to assist in plans to erect a statue of the former president on Kennedy Boulevard.
The project is a joint effort the Knights of Columbus Council 372, its women’s auxiliary the Jacqueline’s, the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St Patrick and the city’s redevelopment authority to bring the project to fruition.
Kennedy Boulevard will also be renamed “President John F. Kennedy Boulevard” and the statue will be life sized and bronze.
It will serve as a memorial to all deceased members of the three organizations.
