BREINIGSVILLE — Briana Chikowski, 9, and Ashlyn Loyack, 10, recently competed at That’s Entertainment Brenigsville Regional in June.
The tgwo won all first place and platinum awards for their lyrical, jazz and tap dances. They placed first overall for their jazz, second overall for tap and third overall for lyrical. They also received a special breathtaking award for their duo in lyrical.
Chikowski placed third overall for her solo novelty dance while Loyack placed seventh overall for her solo hip-hip dance.
The duo also competed at the Talent Olympics in December 2016 at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony where they won first place for hip-hop and pantomime, and second place for tap and jazz. They won a special “Broadway Bound” award for their duo jazz dance, and the “Double D” award. They were the highest scoring dancers in the entire competition and received trophies and a cash prize.
Loyack and Chikowski also competed at Dancers Inc. at Mt. Laurel Resort in White Haven in March. Chikowski was the overall petite solo divisional winner for her novelty dance, while she and Loyack were the overall duo divisional winners for their tap dance. They qualified to compete at nationals.
Chikowski and Loyack are both students at the Pittston David Blight School of Dance and are instructed by Miss Rachel Leandri.
Chikowski is the daughter of Brad and Renee Chikowski, of West Pittston, and a student in the Wyoming Area School District. She has a sister, Carly.
Loyack is the daughter of Steve and Chrissy Loyack, of Pittston, and a student in the Pittston Area School District. She has a sister, Bailey.
