Area girls who have always dreamed of being a queen will have the chance to make their dreams come true when they participate in the annual Tomato Queen Pageant.

The pageant will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 in the Tomato Festival Lot.

Girl between the ages of 14 and 19 will be scored based on an interview, stage performance and talent. The talent portion of the competition has a time limit of two minutes and can include a commercial for the festival, a song and/or a dance.

The winner will receive a $500 cash college scholarship and the runner-up will receive a $250 cash college scholarship. Those not attending college may use the money for other educational purposes.
