PLAINS TWP. — Little Eric’s Foundation (LEF) “Play for A Cure,” a Casino Night was held Sept. 23 at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

The mission of Little Eric’s Foundation is to raise monies for research and offer financial assistance to children and their families fighting childhood cancers.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and LEF friends and family placed gold ribbons on the Water Street Bridge and parts of Luzerne Avenue and Wyoming Avenue to raise awareness.

Childhood cancer is on the increase and the causes of most childhood cancers are unknown. Only four percent of the National Cancer Institute budget was marked for pediatric cancer research, making the main reason private non-profit foundations and organizations are raising monies to fund research.
