DUPONT — The Pittston Township Ambulance Asosciation held its Annual Winter Dinner Social for its EMS staff, board members and guersts at the Dupont Volunteer Fire Hose Company in January.
The purpose of the event was to highlight the past year, look forward to the new year, introduce officers and recognize the 32 EMS staff members.
A representative of families of the late Frank Kremitske and Joseph Shumlas received invites and, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations were directed to the Pittston Township Ambulance. The donations which totaled in excess of $1,200 will be earmarked for equipment purchases as per the famliy wishes.
For the Shumlas family, this is the second time for memorial donations. A few years prior, Dolores Shumlas, the wife of Joseph, passed and the ambulance association received monetary donations that enabled them to purchase an AED, which has been used in successful cardiac arrest saves.
Mark Kremitske and his wife Diana attended the event on behalf of his family. A representative of the Shumlas family was not able to attend.
