PITTSTON — The Friends of the Pittston Memorial Library will celebrate the Second Annual “Women of the Roundtable” at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18 in the John P. Cosgrove Center, 37 Broad St.
The celebration is in honor of National Women’s History Month which began with a proclamation signed by President James Carter in 1980 celebrating March 8 at Women’s History Week. In 1987, the United State Congress extended the week into a month.
The Friends have implemented the roundtable to depict women as they gathered to exchange stories, laugh, maybe cry a little, solve problems, and enjoy conversation while sipping on a cup of coffee or tea.
The theme selected for this year’s event is “My Journey to the Present Day.” Seven women from the community will serve as presenters. They are Dr. Janet Serino, Barbara Pirrelli Sico, Roseann Ricotta, Judge Lisa Gilb, Lori Nocito, Sister Mary Ann Cody and Carol Coolbaugh.
Members serving on the committee are Palmina Pavlico, Joann McHale, Ann Simko, Ann Tracy, Mary Ann Novitsky, Rosemarie Amico, Rita Mecadon, Joy Greenwald, Ellen Mondlak and Maria Capolarella-Montante.
The public is invited to attend this event and there is no charge. Refreshments will be provided.
Reservations can be made by calling the library at 570-654-9565.
