PITTSTON — The Friends of the Pittston Memorial Library will celebrate the Second Annual “Women of the Roundtable” at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18 in the John P. Cosgrove Center, 37 Broad St.

The celebration is in honor of National Women’s History Month which began with a proclamation signed by President James Carter in 1980 celebrating March 8 at Women’s History Week. In 1987, the United State Congress extended the week into a month.

The Friends have implemented the roundtable to depict women as they gathered to exchange stories, laugh, maybe cry a little, solve problems, and enjoy conversation while sipping on a cup of coffee or tea.

The theme selected for this year’s event is “My Journey to the Present Day.” Seven women from the community will serve as presenters. They are Dr. Janet Serino, Barbara Pirrelli Sico, Roseann Ricotta, Judge Lisa Gilb, Lori Nocito, Sister Mary Ann Cody and Carol Coolbaugh.
