PITTSTON — The annual Trick or Treat Main Street was back, once again, and were out to grab treats by the City of Pittston, merchants, and businesses all along Main Street on Saturday, Oct. 19.

According to city officials, as many as 3,000 children, parents and guardians from Pittston and beyond took part in holiday featuring ghouls, goblins, witches, princesses and plenty of Disney characters.

The Tomato Festival lot was ground central in what the city called, “The Haunted Village” were members of city administration, along with other merchants, passed out treats.

The event, taking place from 4 to 6 p.m., held a costume contest where the mayor judged the most original, scariest, and funniest Halloween outfits.

15-year-old Taylor Thomas took home the most original costume, four-year-old Camilla Carrillo won the scariest outfit, and Ryder Jett Gomberg, age 7, won for the funniest outfit.

Mayor Michael Lombardo said Trick or Treat Main Street is a great way to get the fall into winter holiday seasons.

The next big event for the city is Shop with a Cop on Saturday, Dec. 7 from noon to 2 p.m. followed by Toy Truck Parade at 6 p.m. ending with the city’s official Christmas Tree Lighting following the parade.

The parade will also feature the arrival of Santa Claus.
