PITTSTON — The City of Pittston has chosen the fifth Christmas Ambassador who will light the city’s Christmas tree at the Tomato Festival lot on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the completion of the Toy Truck Parade ushering in the appearance of Santa Claus.

Nine-year-old Lexi Hull, a second-grade student at Pittston Area Primary Center, lives in Duryea with her parents, Mandy and Robert Hull, and her two brothers, Blake and Lucas.

According to Mandy, Lexi is on the Autistic Spectrum and is a part of Mrs. LoPresto’s Autism Support Class at school.

“Lexi is a pleasure to have as a student,” said Mrs. LoPresto. “She is kind and generous to all children and adults but she certainly can be assertive, stand up for herself if needed. She’s the life of the party in our classroom and a joy to be around every day. Academically, she’s been surpassing her goals every marking period and has been soaring above and beyond in all aspects as a whole student and learner”

According to Mrs. LoPresto, “Lexi is a ‘mother hen’ taking care of all of her friends, she’s teacher’s helper, she’s trustworthy and reliable and she’s fun. She works hard, she’s sassy but in the best ways possible, and she’s a good friend to not just her classmates but all of the kids at school.”

“Lexi was very excited to hear this and couldn’t believe that she is getting to help Santa spread the Christmas magic, especially to light the tree for the town,” Mandy Hull said. “She takes this responsibility very seriously.”

Mandy continues, “Her father and I are so grateful for this special opportunity for Lexi. She is very blessed to have such a wonderful family, school system and community that loves and supports her so much. It really does this Christmas season extra special for her and our family.”
