PITTSTON — Scranton Police Dept. Det. Kyle Gilmartin as been named as the 2025 Hometown Hero Service Award recipient for the 111th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner sponsored by the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.

Sean Rooney, Friendly Sons president announced the dinner would be held on Monday, March 17 2025 at The Banks Waterfront, Pittston, PA.

Det. Gilmartin serves as a member of the Major Crimes Unit and the Auto Theft Task Force.

Gilmartin, a 2008 graduate of Holy Redeemer High, completed training at the Lackawanna College Police Academy in 2010.

He began his career with the Scranton Police Dept. in 2015, after gaining experience with the Ashley, Wilkes-Barre Township, and Pittston Township police departments.

In January 2024, Det. Gilmartin sustained critical injuries after being shot twice in the head during an incident in West Scranton.

Demonstrating remarkable resilience, he made significant strides in his recovery over the last 13-months, including walking on a treadmill and engaging in speech therapy sessions.

In recognition of his perseverance and prior academic achievements, King’s College awarded him a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in Sept. 2024.

Det. Gilmartin and his wife Lindsay are proud parents of son Liam.
