Student activities and achievements were highlighted Tuesday during the final Wyoming Area School Board meeting of the year.
As audience members entered the Secondary Center to attend the meeting, band students Cassie Button, Lea Getz and Ben Klaproth greeted guests with holiday music.
To continue with the fine arts, Superintendent Janet Serino acknowledged two students who will have their art featured on the district’s Christmas cards. Showing the cards to the public, Serino said senior Shari Liddick created a picture of a snowman with pine tress and sixth-grade student Madison Ratchford submitted a card complete with portraits of Santa, Rudolph, a penguin and a snowman.
She also noted two students who chose to run a Toys for Tots collection at the Intermediate Center.
“These are students who basically took this upon themselves to run this drive,” Serino said of Alyssa Stepanski and Trinity Campbell. “So we’re very proud of them.”
In other news, the board:
• Appointed Julian Campenni as eighth-grade basketball coach with a salary of $1,677. He replaces Randy McDermott.
