AVOCA — The borough community center has been in need of a new roof for quite some time, and council members are hoping to resolve that issue soon.

At the monthly council meeting Tuesday night, it was announced that council members would submit an LSA Grant application for a new roof and some other things the center needs.

“Most urgent is a new roof,” said council President John Boone. “It’s probably close to 10 years beyond its life span. It’s got some issues with drainage and that’s what we put in for our request.”

Boone said the center, which sits at 800 Main St., is also in need of a new scoreboard and other general repairs.
