Dear Editor,
I have had the privilege of meeting quite a few famous sports figures down through the years. Sometimes planned, sometimes just being in the right place at the right time.
The photo you see here was the latter and then some. Just a short while back my wife and I stopped for gas at a local Scranton mini mart. I noticed the man fueling up next to me looked like Joe Theismann.
I said to him, “Buddy, did anyone ever tell you you look like Joe Theismann?”
He said, “All the time! I am Joe Theismann.”
We had a brief talk about quarterbacks and joked around when I asked him if his leg hurts when it rains. I’ve been lucky to meet a lot of legendary athletes down through the years. Pictures, signatures and memories I will cherish for the rest of my days.
Oh and by the way we didn’t plan the shirt thing!
