WEST PITTSTON — The first one is out of the way.
The first day of school in the Wyoming Area School District was on Wednesday, Sept. 2. The secondary center and all three elementary schools began classes for the 2015-16 school year.
Students at Montgomery Avenue Elementary assembled along Wyoming and Montgomery avenues prior to the start of school. Students entering kindergarten had the thrill of either hopping off the bus or allowing crossing guard Gene Kern wave his stop sign. Kern has been a guard for about 10 years in West Pittston.
Students will get their first break as school will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day.
