Drivers in the Wyoming Valley awoke to some slippery roads for Friday morning’s commute thanks to an overnight snowstorm.
By the time the storm stops late this morning, the area should see three to six inches of snow.
However, a quiet weekend forecast follows.
The National Weather Service indicated it was 29 degrees as of 5:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and snow and freezing fog were reported.
Luzerne County remains under a winter weather advisory until 12 p.m. today. A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties.
Snow is expected before noon today, and around 2 inches of snowfall are expected. A chance of snow showers will also be possible after 3 p.m. Today’s high will be near 35.
Mostly cloudy skies are expected tonight, along with a 30 percent chance of snow showers before 9 p.m. The low will be around 12, but wind chill values could be as low as 0.
Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Saturday, with a high near 25. Mostly cloudy skies will follow into Saturday night, with a low around 13.
Partly sunny skies will round out the weekend on Sunday, with a high near 27. Partly cloudy skies will follow into Sunday night, with a low around 11.
