WILKES-BARRE — More than 50 Holy Redeemer seniors received the Bishop’s Youth Award from Bishop Joseph C. Bambera during Masses recently at the St. Peter Cathedral.

The award recognizes outstanding seniors and eighth grade students for their exemplary practice of faith and genuine commitment to service in their schools and parishes. It is the highest recognition offered to Catholic youth of the Diocese of Scranton.

Local students recognized were Mary Pat Blaskiewicz, West Pittston; Michael Conlon, Inkerman; Mark Liskowicz, Laflin; Thomas Lewis, Pittston; Lauren Manganello, Exeter; Gaetano Buonsante, Exeter; Cameron Gill, Wyoming; and Lucas Mark, Pittston Township.

Students honored are considered to be exceptional volunteers, deeply spiritual, born leaders, and role models for younger students. They are active in their schools and parishes and are fundamental to the life of both in their many volunteer roles.
