Thanks to the Pittston Area girls soccer team, there were no more unbeaten teams in the Wyoming Valley Conference Division C. The Patriots avenged one of their two early season losses by beating GAR, 2-0.
Pittston Area improved to 9-2.
The Patriots got goals from Crystal Price and Katie Donahue. Jessica Donahue, Janelle Jesikiewicz, Olivia Lombardo and Sara Zurek led the defense, which limited GAR to just four shots.

Radio stations WWDL/FM and WICK/AM sponsored the Northeast Pennsylvania High School Athlete of the Year program, which was in its 22nd year.
Pittston Area’s Tony Barbie, who was a standout wrestler and finished fourth in the state earlier that spring, was Greater Pittston’s lone nominee.

The Pittston Area girls track and field team improved to 7-5 in the Wyoming Valley Conference. The Patriots won 12 of 18 events in sweeping both Wyoming Area and Hanover.
Mary Ellen Opeka, Linda Lombardo, Michelle Sedlak and Karen Mariggi were all triple winners for Pittston Area.
May 1975
Pittston native Kevin Burke was honored by the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce for his accomplishments playing sports at Penn State University.
Burke averaged 10 points per game for three seasons as a regular for the Nittany Lions basketball team. He was also the right fielder for the baseball team, hitting .342. Principal speaker for the event was Joe Paterno.
