MECHANICSBURG — The Old Forge girls basketball team advanced to the PIAA Class A title game with a 45-42, double overtime win over Portage on March 17 at Cumberland Valley High School.

The win propels the Lady Devils to their second straight Class A championship game. They will face District 7 champion Vincentian Academy, a 63-37 winner over Blairsville, at noon on Saturday at the Giant Center in Hershey. Old Forge and Vincentian Academy met in last year’s title game in which Old Forge fell, 58-34.

Tory Tansley scored a game-high 28 points for Old Forge.

The Lady Devils overcame a 13-0 deficit to start the game and a 21-11 halftime deficit prior to winning in double overtime.

Old Forge’s Nina Pascolini hit a pair of free throws with 21 seconds left in regulation to give the Lady Devils a 35-32 lead. However, Portage’s Katie Nolan hit a deep three with seconds remaining to put the game into overtime.

In the first overtime, Old Forge’s Kelci Yesnowski hit a 3-pointer to give the Lady Devils a 40-37 lead with less than a minute remaining. After missing two free throws, Old Forge allowed Portage’s Lexi Wozniak to hit a deep three to tie the game and send the game into double overtime.

Tansley scored the first four points of the second overtime, while Pascolini made one of two free throws to ice the game.
