Pittston Active Center

The Pittston Active Adult Center is located at 441 N. Main St., Pittston. Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Complimentary coffee is served from 8:30 a.m. to closing. The center now has Wi-Fi available as well as three computers with internet access.

Beginning Thursday, Nov. 6 and running through Thursday, Dec. 18, Zumba Gold classes with Tony will be offered each Thursday for no charge. Class begins at 1:45 p.m. and ends at 2:30. This class is open to those 55 years of age or older.

Medicare beneficiaries will have an opportunity to make changes to their Medicare Part D coverage until Dec. 7. Apprise counselors are now available by appointment only during this Medicare Part “D” Open Enrollment Period. For more information or to set up an appointment contact the center at 570-655-5561.

Healthy Steps exercise classes are held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Cosmopolitan Seniors

The Cosmopolitan Seniors, a Project HEAD (Help Edlerly Adjust and Develop) Club, will meet on at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11 in St. Anthony’s Center.

At the previous meeting, the group was informed about the plans for the upcoming Christmas party, in which reservations must be made no later than Tuesday, Nov. 18. Membership of the club is open to all men and women aged 50 and up. Interested parties are invited to attend a meeting. There is no restriction as to residency or religious affiliation.

A trip has been scheduled to Sands Casino for Thursday, Nov. 13. Pickups are in Exeter and Pittston. Call Johanna at 570-655-2720 for reservations and information.

Falls Active Center

The Falls Active Center is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located on State Route 92. The center is offering the following activities:

Monday: 1 to 2 p.m. Craft Club. A special project will be offered each week.

Tuesday: Brain games at lunch

Wednesday: 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Walking group

Thursday: Nutrition talks at lunch; Bingo following lunch

Friday: 9:30 a.m. to noon, Geocaching activity

Monday, Nov. 3: 10:30-11:30 a.m. the Book Club meets to discuss ” Kids for Cash” by William Ecenbarger; Decorate a holiday gift basket

Thursday, Nov. 6: Veterans’ Day lunch. Following lunch, Joan Krispin from the Meadows will lead the members in a special bingo game.

Friday, Nov. 7: James May, a former member of the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps will lead in a special Veterans’ Day musical tribute.

Lunch and Learn will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, presented by North Penn Legal Serives, Inc. They will discuss the free services offered to seniors such as wills, powers of attorney and much more.

Anyone wishing to join the center for a hot meal at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and over or $4.62 for those under 60, should RSVP to Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.

Wyoming-West Wyoming Seniors

Wyoming-West Wyoming Seniors will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at St. Monica’s meeting room. Servers are Margaret Malarkey and Dorothy Rossick.

Nomination will be held for officers for 2014 to 2016 and the election will be held at the Tuesday, Nov. 18 meeting. Plans have been finalized for the Christmas dinner party to be held Tuesday, Dec. 2.

New members and guests are welcome to join. Residence is not required.
