Two-time U.S. Paralympic bronze medalist Stephanie Jallen threw out a first pitch at the opening game of the 2014 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders game Thursday at PNC Field in Moosic.
The RailRiders, who were in a three-game losing skid, won the game over the Syracuse Chiefs, 9-7.
Berwick’s Jayson Terdimen was also on hand to throw a first pitch. Terdimen finished 11th in doubles luge with teammate Christian Niccum at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. He came in sixth in the team relay.
Jallen, who won a pair of bronze medals at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia, won two additional awards — the Female Paralympian of the Winter Games, and the Best Moment of the Paralymics for her first Paralympic run for a bronze medal — at the 2014 Best of US Awards show the previous Wednesday at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C.
