Two locals from Misericordia University were recently recognized in their academic accomplishments of graduating.

Teacher education majors Melissa Smith, of Harding, received the Sister M. Noreen Mulherin, RSM Award given to students who have demonstrated excellence in the field of elementary education while Sara Gravine, of West Wyoming, received the K. Monica Kruger Award, awarded to an outstanding adult learner in the Teacher Education Department.

Wilkes University recently awarded 724 doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degrees to students graduating after the completion of the spring 2014 semester during the University’s 67th annual spring commencement ceremony at the Arnaud C. Marts Sports & Conference Center.
