WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON — Wilkes-Barre UNICO is partnering with Scranton UNICO in collecting new and gently used coats for the annual Friends of the Poor Coat Drive.
Diana Giovannini, Scranton UNICO, serves as the coat drive chair for 2025; Regina Peters serves as the honorary chair.
The Scranton Chapter of UNICO coat drive committee has placed boxes for coat collections from Clarks Summit to Dunmore to Scranton and includes Armettas, Clarks Summit; Mansours, Scranton; Shop-Rite, Moosic; Glenmaura Country Club; Nibbles and Bits, Dunmore; Caravia, Clarks Summit; Small Frye’s, Moosic; Jaya Yoga, Clarks Summit; and Dunmore YMCA.
Coats may also be dropped at the Friends of Poor Donation Center, 240 E. Elm, during business hours, daily 9-3.
Wilkes-Barre drop-off can be made on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Winery on Broad St., 21 Broad Street, Pittston, between 6 and 9 p.m.
The mission of Friends of the Poor is to ease the burden of living in poverty and enhance the quality of life for all who live in low-to moderate-income communities.
Founded by the late Sister Adrian Barrett, IHM, in 1986 and sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scranton, the ministry brings together in friendship those who have the desire to give with those in need of assistance.
Friends of the Poor, a nonprofit charitable organization, is led by CEO Meghan Loftus.
