Our fire department is pleased to announce the start of our Fourth Annual Fire Truck Fund Drive. The purpose for this Truck Drive is so you know exactly what your generous donation is going to be used for by our department.
All donations collected in this Truck Drive will be used for the loan payment on our new fire engine which will be delivered in July. Last year has been a record year for our fire department, responding to over 649 emergency calls, including residential and commercial fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, emergency medical calls, and many other types of incidents. With the steadily increasing emergency call volume we have been receiving, our department is already poised to easily surpass 700 emergency calls by the conclusion of 2018 with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. With the increased demand for our apparatus, your support of this fire truck fund drive is now more important than ever before.
Since our mailing last year, our department has continued to adapt and undergo changes to ensure you have the best quality emergency services possible. We are pleased to report we will receive a new E-One Fire Engine this July that has been designed to meet the needs of Hughestown Borough such as tight streets and steep hills. Our current Mack Engine is 32 years old and is at the end of its life span. The rest of our fleet has been updated over the last few years with the oldest vehicle being our brush truck, a 2001 due to be replaced within the next five years.
Many of our members have attended various training courses, ranging from the basics of firefighting, vehicle rescue techniques, emergency medical training, how to deal with active shooter situations, and many other courses so that we can provide you with the best possible services in your moment of need. Remember, the dependable operation of our fire apparatus and continuous training helps to maintain our ISO rating, keeping your homeowner’s insurance rates at a low and reasonable rate.
Each year, our department works tirelessly to raise the funds needed to sustain our department. Your support of our Good Friday Fish Dinner, Santa Breakfast and other fundraising events go a long way towards helping us make ends meet. However, these funds are utilized to pay for utilities, training courses and other daily expenses required for us to provide you with fast and efficient emergency services. Hughestown Borough, unlike some municipalities, does not collect taxes that provide our department with necessary funding. The borough provides the department with state-mandated workman’s compensation insurance. None of your tax money is used to fund our fire department and ambulance operations on a daily basis.
By way of this Truck Fund Drive, we respectfully request a donation which will greatly assist the department in making loan payments on our new fire engine. Your support is absolutely necessary for us to maintain our firefighting, emergency medical services and rescue services. The members of the Hughestown Hose Company are always extremely grateful for your donation.
Thank you in advance for your continued support,
Officers, Administration, Members of Hughestown Hose Company
