JENKINS TWP. — Another new business is calling Greater Pittston “home” as Imperial Supplies LLC celebrated the grand opening of its distribution center Tuesday morning.

The event included a ribbon cutting ceremony and remarks by Imperial’s CEO Rob Gilson in front of 28 new employees in the brand new warehouse on Centerpoint Boulevard.

Bruce Hagan, Vice President of Marketing and Supplies, said the geographic location of the new distribution center fits Imperial’s needs of next-day delivery for the entire northeast region.

“It’s an excellent location to get us optimal next-day delivery to almost 90 percent of the New England market as well as westward into Ohio,” he said. “So, the geography was very desirable for us; the workforce was also very attractive to us.”

Hagan noted that Imperial delivers as far north as Maine and as far south as Virginia.

Local customers can also pick up orders at the facility.

The process of coming to Centerpoint Boulevard began in June 2017 and the distribution center was leased to Imperial in January. The distribution center became fully operational last month.

“It was pretty quick” Hagan said.

Imperial Supplies LLC was founded in 1958 and its headquarters is located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was purchased in 2008 by Grainger, which distributes facilities maintenance products, but still continues under the Imperial name.

The company is a national distributor of quality maintenance products for over-the-road semi-trucks and fleet vehicles, as well as waist haulers, aggregate haulers and any industrial over-the-road fleet. The companyalso carries nuts, bolts, paint supplies, vehicle lighting, cutting tools and more.

The Jenkins Township facility is 45,000 square feet and contains 7,000 different items, Hagan said.

He noted the area had been on Imperial’s radar for a while.

“We knew roughly we wanted to be here,” Hagan said. “We do an extensive logistics and geographic study that includes freight lanes, labor training and things of that sort.”
