Pittston Area recognizes first graduating class of ‘69

YATESVILLE — Members of the Pittston Area Class of 1969 were featured guests at the recent Pittston Area Homecoming football game against Williamsport Friday, Oct. 5.

They were recognized as the first to graduate from the high school building in Yatesville and the first to graduate at Charlie Trippi Stadium.

As the Patriots entered the field, they burst through a banner and passed through an honor guard formed by members of the the Class of ‘69. John Jerrytone, class president, then sang the National Anthem.

Prior to the game, the class attended a reception held in its honor.

Throughout the school year, both the Pittston Area School Board and the Class of ‘69 will continue to celebrate their anniversaries. The Class of ‘69 will celebrate highlights of their senior year and the school board will commemorate the high school building’s 50 years of service to the community.
