WEST PITTSTON – Good friends John Symons and John Disanferdinand will draw a line in the sand today for Super Bowl Sunday when the Kansas City Chief face the Philadelphia Eagles.

Symons, 41 of Pittston, has been a diehard Eagles fan for most of his life and is looking forward to a great showdown with the Eagles topping the Chiefs 34-21.

“I’ve been an Eagles fan for a very long time and nobody gave (quarterback) Jalen Hurts a chance and nobody gave the head coach (Nick Sirianni) a chance, so this is the year,” Symons said.

Symons is planning on having a huge Super Bowl party with at least 25 people in attendance.

If the Eagles win, he will drive to Philadelphia for the team celebration when the team arrives back to the city.

Disanferdinand, 61, has been a diehard Chiefs fan for as long as he can remember.

He and his wife Andrea have decorated their West Pittston home, inside and out, with Kansas City Chiefs items including a TV room full of posters, helmets, and more memorabilia.

The couple even has a Christmas tree adorned with Chiefs decorations.

“My friends and family, as a kid, rooted for the Dallas Cowboys, but I was fond of the color red,” Disanferdinand remarked, on what attracted him to the Chiefs at an early age. “My dad bought me a book back in 1969, ironically the year the Chiefs went to the Super Bowl (1970) taking the title, the team with the red helmets. My dad loved Chiefs’ (longtime head coach) Hank Stram.”

Disanferdinand admits his love for the Chiefs has gotten him through tough times and in the past has met the Chiefs’ owner and many of the players over the years.

His prediction: Chiefs 34, Eagles 17.

“Patrick Mahomes can beat the Eagles in a wheelchair,” Disanferdinand exclaimed. “The Eagles fans have to realize that the opposing team’s quarterback is not Brock Purdy (San Francisco 48ers) this time.”

The Chiefs and Eagles will square off tonight at 6:30 p.m. Symons and Disanferdinand will be watching at the edge of their seats.
