Red Cross speaker Oct. 26
PITTSTON — Ned Bloom from the Red Cross will present “Are You Cross Ready?” at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the Pittston Active Adult Center. This event is open to the public.
A Halloween special dinner and party will be held Monday, Oct. 31. Dinner will be served at noon and the Halloween party will be from 1 to 3 p.m. A donation of $2 is asked for dinner and cost to attend the party is $3 per person. Light refreshments will be served and participants can dress in costume for the chance to receive a prize. Bob Perks will provide music. Participants must sign up in advance.
Reservations are now being taken for the following trips organized by the Pittston Active Adult Center:
Sands Casino — Thursday, Nov. 3

Line dancing classes with Sue are held at 10 a.m. Mondays. Exercise classes with Catherine and Ruth are held at 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sandi offers chair exercise classes at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. on Thursdays. There is no charge for these classes.
Ceramic Class with Ann is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays while Bingo with Ron and Amy is held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday mornings and also from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoons.
Shuffleboard matches are held at 10 a.m. Wednesday mornings where the men challenge the women.
Craft class with Faye and Rosanne is held at 10 a.m. on Thursday mornings, as is Wii bowling with John.
The center offers ballroom dance lessons with Joseph Kull, instructor at 2 p.m. on Thursdays. A small fee is charged.
FALLS ACTIVE ADULT CENTER
Geri Fit offered in Falls
EXETER TWP. — The Falls Active Adult Center offers a free Gerri-Fit class for those aged 50 and over from 9:30 to 10: a.m. every Tuesday and from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. every Friday starting Tuesday, Nov. 1. This class is designed to help prevent osteoarthritis or slow its progression. Most of the exercises can be done while sitting. There will be light weights for some of the exercises for muscle strengthening. Eight people are needed to conduct the class. RSVP by Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Tina Seidel will present a travel log from a recent trip to Brazil starting at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26.
Donna LaBar, author of “Simple.Natural.Healing.,” will present during Lunch & Learn at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27. Also, there will be a blood pressure screening at 12:50 p.m. by Joan Krispin, LPN, admission director of The Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, with bingo to follow.
George Rittenhouse will entertain with a concert at 10:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28.
The Halloween party will be held Monday, Oct. 31.
COSMOPOLITAN SENIORS
Club meeting Oct. 25
EXETER — The Cosmopolitan Senior Citizens Club will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 in St. Anthony’s center.
Host and hostesses are Virginia Craig, Fran Lepo, Kathy Loucks and Helen Zarychta.
There will be a wimpy (sloppy joe) lunch and Halloween costumes are optional.
A casino trip is scheduled to Sands Casino on Thursdays, Nov. 10 and Dec 1. Pickups are in Exeter and Pittston. Club membership is not required.
