EXETER — The Wyoming Area School District will hold its yearly Scholarship Information Night at 7 p.m.Wednesday, Nov. 9 in the secondary center cafeteria, 20 Memorial St.
Students in grades 11 and 12, along with their parents, are urged to attend. Students in grades 9 and 10 grade can attend as well.
The presentation will highlight the various scholarships offered to seniors on the school website. This year applicants will email their applications to donors. Helpful ideas on how to present a winning application will be discussed in detail.
There is a wide variety of awards offered and the specifics of these will be discussed. Each new scholarship will be introduced and explained. In addition, some donors, parents of winners and winners will be on hand for a question-and-answer period after the presentation.
The Eighth Annual Scholarship Presentation will be held Thursday, May 25 in the secondary center cafeteria to honor the recipients of the scholarships, as well as donors.
Approximately, $98,000 was awarded in 2015 and approximately $191,000 was awarded in 2016.
The nine new scholarships are: The Richard G. Belza Memorial Scholarship, The Wyoming Area Class of 2016 Gives Back Scholarship, the Sarah J. Dymond Elementary School Scholarship, the Lt. Adam Kalmanowicz Post 833 Exeter American Legion Scholarship, the Prokop & Malsky Family Scholarship for the Arts, the Stephen E. Sokach Memorial Scholarship, The West Pittston High School Alumni Association Scholarship, The Wyoming Area Boys and Girls Soccer Parents Scholarship and The West Pittston Tomorrow Scholarship.
