PITTSTON — The Pittston Active Adult Center will be closed Monday, Jan. 2.

Golden Living will conduct free blood pressure screenings at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3. The public is welcome to attend.

The 2017 Pittston Active Adult Center Bowling League is now forming. Bowling will take place at Elko Lanes beginning on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 12 and continuing for 14 weeks on Thursdays. A meeting will be held at the Pittston Active Adult Center at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5 for anyone interested in joining this league. Teams will be set up at that time and all rules and other information will be discussed. For further details contact Connie Kokinda at 570-655-5561.

Geri-Fit Strength Training Program will begin new classes every Tuesday and Friday afternoons at 12:30 beginning in January. To join the class or for further information contact Connie or Hazel at the Center.

Membership dues for 2017 are now being accepted. Suggested donation is $5. Members are asked to supply any changes to their information.

Line dancing classes with Sue are held at 10 a.m. every Monday. Exercise classes with Catherine and Ruth are held at 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sandi offers chair exercise classes at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and at 9 a.m. Thursdays.

There is no charge for these classes.

Ceramic Class with Ann is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays. Bingo with Ron and Amy is held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays and also from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays. Shuffleboard matches are held at 10 a.m. Wednesdays where the men challenge the women. Helen Shannon is the captain. Craft class with Faye is held at 10 a.m. Thursdays. Wii Bowling with John is also offered.

FALLS ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

Geri-Fit resumes Jan. 6

EXETER TWP. — The Geri-Fit program and the Zumba Gold programs will resume Friday, Jan. 6 at the Falls Active Adult Center. Both of these programs are part of the Health & Wellness programs, free of charge, and open to any adults ages 50 and over.

The Falls Active Adult Center will be closed Monday, Jan. 2.

The Geri-Fit class is held 9:30 to 10 a.m. every Tuesday and from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. every Friday. This class is designed to help prevent osteoarthritis or slow its progression. Most of the exercises can be done while sitting. There will be light weights for some of the exercises for muscle strengthening. Eight people are needed to conduct the class. There will be no Geri-Fit class on Friday, Dec. 9.

Zumba Gold is held from 9:15 to 10 a.m.

Sands Casino trip is Jan. 19

EXETER — A casino trip is scheduled to Sands Casino in Bethlehem Jan 19. Pickups are in Exeter and Pittston and it is not required to be a member to join a trip. For more information or to make a reservation, call Johanna at 570-655-2720.
