Rain, snow, and slightly warmer temperatures are in the forecast for the Wyoming Valley as the the first week of 2017 rolls along.
The National Weather Service indicated it was 40 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and overcast skies were reported.
An 80 percent chance of rain is predicted for today, and up to a half an inch of total rainfall is possible. The high will be near 44.
Rain will continue to be likely before 11 p.m. tonight, followed by a slight chance of showers after 1 a.m. Up to a quarter of an inch of total rainfall is possible, and the low will be around 36.
Partly sunny skies are expected Wednesday, along with a slight chance with rain showers after 10 a.m. that could mix with snow after 4 p.m. The high will be near 41.
Partly cloudy skies will carry over into Wednesday night, with a low around 22.
Thursday will also bring partly sunny skies, along with a 30 percent chance of snow showers after 1 p.m. The high will be near 28.
Mostly cloudy skies will follow into Thursday night, along with a 30 percent chance of snow showers. The low will be around 20.
