Mostly cloudy skies are expected through much of the latter part of the week, but snow could return to the Wyoming Valley into Friday.
The National Weather Service indicated it was 40 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fog and mist were reported.
Cloudy skies will gradually become mostly sunny today, with a slight chance of showers possible before 9 a.m. The high will be near 41.
Mostly cloudy skies are expected tonight, with a low around 20.
Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Thursday, with a high around 27.
Cloudy skies will carry over into Thursday night, along with a 50 percent chance of snow showers after 8 p.m. Less than half an inch of snowfall is expected, and the low will be around 20.
Partly sunny skies will round out the first week of 2017 on Friday, along with a 50 percent chance of snow showers before 8 a.m. The high will be near 28.
Partly cloudy skies will follow into Friday night, with a low around 14.
