Rain is expected in the Wyoming Valley sporadically throughout the weekend, and forecasts indicate the rainfall could be substantial into the new week.
According to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service, a large system is expected to bring rain to the area late Monday night and into Tuesday. It is too early for forecasts to indicate how much rain will fall, but there is at least some potential for excessive rainfall that could cause rivers and streams to rise.
No watches or warnings have been issued for Luzerne County.
