Freezing rain could cause icy conditions in the Wyoming Valley late tonight and early into Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Luzerne and Lackawanna counties from 1 a.m. until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Areas of light freezing rain are expected to develop late tonight. That light freezing rain will persist into Tuesday morning in the higher elevations. For areas like Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, temperatures should rise above freezing before daybreak on Tuesday, which will allow for plain rain.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.
