Lukesh earns award for swimming
KINGSTON — Nicole Rose Lukesh, Wyoming, received a Gold Award for her achievements in swimming this season.
She is the daughter of Mary Rose and Joseph Lukesh.
Kings College students completing internships
WILKES-BARRE — Greater Pittston residents studying at King’s College are working to complete for-credit internships this semester.
Nicole Gitkos, of West Pittston, is a human resource management student currently interning at Target. Harding resident Anneliese Romani is double majoring in accounting and marketing, while studying to earn minors in mathematics and international business. Romani is interning at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP.
Carmen LoBrutto, of Hughestown, is an accounting major interning at CohnReznick LLP. Pittston Township’s Kayla Vogue is a human resource management major interning at O’Donnell Law Offices.
Proziac earns field hockey honors
WORCESTER, MA — Carrie Pozaic, Wyoming, was one of 11 Worcester Polytechnic Institute student-athletes to be recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for her work in the classroom.
This marks the second consecutive year she received the honor.
Wilkes University students spend Spring Break helping others
WILKES-BARRE — A group of Wilkes University students, including Morgan DeAngelo, of Exeter, and Kayla Wedlock, of West Pittston, participated in an Alternative Spring Break trip to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
In addition, West Pittston resident Leslie Shumlas volunteered with Christian Appalachian Project in Kentucky. Shumlas and her fellow students worked with the organization’s housing ministry at Foley Mission Center. They performed home renovations and repairs.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Kathryn Augustine, Wyoming, has been accepted for admission at Delaware Valley University
Giannelli studying in Greece
WILKES-BARRE — Deanna Giannelli, of Inkerman and a student at King’s College, is currently studying in Athens, Greece and is a recipient of the James LeBaron Boyle Scholarship.
Giannelli is a junior neuroscience major. She is a dean’s list student and a member of Sigma Zeta national science and mathematics honor society
Greater Pittston students on Wyoming Seminary Lower School honor roll
FORTY FORT — These Greater Pittston students were named to the Academic High Honor Roll and Academic Honor Roll for the winter trimester of the 2016-2017 academic year.
Sixth-graders Raniya Khan, Jenkins Township, and Andrew Mauriello, Duryea, were named to high honor roll. Seventh-graders Emily Aikens of Jenkins Township, Samantha Quinn of Duryea and Jacob Ruderman of West Pittston also earned that distinction.
Sixth-grader Eric Gardner, Harding, and seventh-grader Samantha Casey, Jenkins Township, were named to the school’s honor roll. Eighth-graders Shawna Casey, Jenkins Township, and Philip Gelso, Duryea, were also named to the honor roll.
