Rain is expected for most of the weekend, and it could cause some flooding as the snowpack continues to melt.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Luzerne County until Sunday morning. The Susquehanna River is expected to crest at 21.5 feet at 2 a.m. Sunday in Wilkes-Barre. Flood stage is 22 feet and minor flooding begins in lowland areas unprotected by the Wyoming Valley levee system.

Snow will continue to melt into the Susquehanna River through Saturday. That melting, along with an additional 1 to 1.5 inches of rain through Friday night, could cause minor flooding along the Susquehanna river.

Smaller streams, roadside ditches, and urban areas may also experience flooding.
