The Pittston Recreation was a bee-hive of activity during the past week with Medico’s Electric still reigning supreme in the City League by virtue of their trouncing the Fern Billiard for a 4 to 0 score. Renfers took three points from the Pittston Diner and Ray’s Lunch white-washed Agolino’s Law Firm,

In the American League D’Anca’s Pharmacy still leads the field followed by A-C Auto Parts. Bellanca’s Lineoleum Layers, Butera’s Auto Part, Molly’s Cafe and the D-D0 Candy Company in that that order.

In the American Legue, Mauriello’s Florists too two points from the League leading Latorre’s and McGraw’s Bar & Grill won three hard earned points from the Pittston Diner to creep wihin just one point of the League lead.

Newiellers Bar and Avoca Taxi fought to a stand still with each team making two points.

It might interest bowlers to know that it takes mother nature from 150 to 200 years to produce the hard maple timber that goes into pins and then only the choicest stock is used. A bowling league depending upon the number of teams playing once a week over a season of 26 weeks will shoot away from 2 to 3 dozen sets of the best ten pins. In less than a year the pine are useless even for open play.

The Wyoming Valley Bowling Association is holding its 5th Annual Bowling Tournament at St. John’s Recreation in Luzerne beginning on May 18. Any team wishing to enter in this tournament can get entry blanks at the Pittston Recreation. Charles Calibro, captain of the Pittston Diner reports that he expects to enter a team to represent the Pittston Recreation.
