The Wyoming Valley could see some rain and thunderstorms through Wednesday night, but sunshine is expected to return by Thursday.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 58 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and overcast skies were reported.

A chance of showers is possible before 3 p.m. today, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Showers will become likely after 5 p.m., along with a possible thunderstorm. Some thunderstorms could produce small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Less than a tenth of an inch of overall rainfall is expected, and today’s high will be near 68.

Partly sunny skies are expected on Wednesday, along with a chance of showers. Thunderstorms are also possible after 1 p.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and Wednesday’s high will be near 76.

Wednesday night will bring partly cloudy skies, along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and the low will be around 54.

Mostly sunny skies will return on Thursday, with a high near 69. Partly cloudy skies will follow into Thursday night, with a low around 50.
