Locals earn awards from Kings College
WILKES-BARRE — Five local residents received academic awards at the recent 68th annual King’s College commencement exercises.
Michael Cipriani, West Wyoming, received the Dorothy Day Volunteer Award for Recognition of Four Years of Service and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a second major in management.
Andrew Coco, Exeter, received the Award of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a second major in finance.
Jacob Kozak, Pittston, received the Award of the Bishop Hafey Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Award for History and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in history-secondary education.
John Kozak, Pittston, received the Lee Sweinberg, Jr., Memorial Award for Computer Science and graduated magna cum laude and received a bachelor of science degree in computer science.
Brian Stonikinis, Dupont, received the John F. Curley, CPA, Award for Accounting Achievement and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.
Lele receives awards
KINGSTON — Wyoming Seminary graduate Reeya Lele, of Pittston, received the Dr. William Schuler Pierce Award, in recognition of her excellence in science, during the school’s 173rd Commencement.
Prior to commencement, she received the President’s Educational Excellence Award. She has been inducted into the Cum Laude Society, the national academic honor society for college preparatory schools.
Lele also has been named a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student and was named to the Dean’s List with High Honors for the 2016-17 academic spring term.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rajesh Lele.
Sokach receives scholarship award
KINGSTON — Wyoming Seminary graduate Alexis Sokach, West Pittston, received the Jennie Hess Wandell Scholarship Award during the school’s 173rd Commencement.
Prior to commencemen,t Sokach received the President’s Educational Excellence Award and the Karen Klassner Award for perseverance through adversity. She has been named to the dean’s list with high honors for the spring term.
Duryea resident participates in camp
DALLAS TWP. — Elizabeth Charney, Duryea, was among a number of high school seniors who recently attended an occupational therapy career exploration camp at Misericordia University.

BETHLEHEM — Suraj Pursnani, Pittston, graduated from Lehigh University May 22 with a bachelor of science in molecular biology.
