PLAINS TWP. — Jan Jam, a tribute/memorial show for Jane Train, will take place on Oct. 12 at The Woodlands. This special night of music will celebrate the life of Jane Train and will feature performances by 21 acts on three stages.

Doors to the over-21 event open at 6 p.m. and there will be non-stop music until 1 a.m. Proceeds will benefit Jason McCloe and the new Janet Rains Memorial Music Scholarship Fund.

Janet Rains, also known as Jane Train, was a longtime member of the popular band, M80. Previously, she had toured the country as a backup singer with Liz Phair, co-headlining shows with artists such as Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan, Dixie Chicks and Queen Latifah. With Phair, she also toured with Alanis Morissette. As a solo artist, she released a solo album, “Diary,” which featured former members of Guns N’ Roses and Breaking Benjamin and members of Sevendust.

Rains, while working as road manager with the band Adrenaline Mob, was on tour with the group in Florida on July 14 when it was involved in a motor vehicle accident. McCloe was one of those injured. Rains passed away due to her injuries on Aug. 23.

While a part of the NEPA music scene, Rains was generous with her time and talents, often performing at benefit shows, including the long-running “Concert For A Cause” event at The Woodlands. Some of those involved in presenting “Concert For A Cause” are now helping organize “Jane Jam” as a way of honoring her memory and giving back to her what she once gave to her community.

The Janet Rains Memorial Music Scholarship Fund will support children and teens interested in studying music.
