WEST PITTSTON — All borough residents are invited to hear comments by a representative from the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority on storm water practices that will alleviate the growing problems in our lakes, streams, rivers, and wetlands — all of which are used for swimming, fishing, boating, and, most importantly, drinking.
Rainwater and melting snow on streets, paved driveways, and sidewalks all carry a variety of pollutants (examples: debris, oil and grease, fertilizer, chemical, plastics, pet feces) into the storm water sewer system, which does not treat the water.
The West Pittston Borough Council meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4. The Sanitary Authority representative will speak at the conclusion of the meeting.
