HUGHESTOWN — Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce celebrated the 23rd Community Reading Day by bringing community and business volunteers to read to the students of Pittston Area’s Martin F. Quinn Primary Center.

Community Reading Day helps to promote literacy and encourage life-long reading with the students. Community and business volunteers visited the kindergarten and first-grade classrooms to read a book to the students, and then discuss the books, as well as their career. The book was then donated to the classroom library.

This year’s volunteers were from the following organizations: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, Dress for Success, Pittston Area Superintendent, Valley Meat and Deli, Schott North America, Joyce Insurance, Burke, Vullo, Reilly, Roberts, Attorneys at Law, Greater Pittston YMCA, retired educator, Pittston Memorial Library, FNCB Bank, All Service Rite INC, Commonwealth Health EMS, Empowerment Education and King’s College.
